Island plans move on in Nottingham
16/08/2004
The first phase of a £900 million regeneration of the Eastside of
Nottingham City has moved a step closer with the provisional granting of
outline planning permission for a major new commercial, residential and leisure
quarter on the brownfield Island site.
The developer, Eastside and City Developments, is also working on two other
proposed schemes in the area. If approved, the Eastside regeneration project
will extend from the Sneinton Market site in the north to Manvers Street
in the south.
Detailed planning permission will be sought in autumn this year, with work
on site scheduled to start in spring 2006. If plans for the two other sites
are approved, the work could take up to 15 years to complete.
