Pride Park, Derby
Egg is the world’s largest purely on-line bank, and uses state-of-the-art
and leading edge technology. When the company located in Derby, they
established their administrative head office, main contact centre,
centre of operations and all IT services here.
“On deciding where to locate our main business centre in 1998,
we had a complex set of requirements and we looked at a number of
potential locations around the UK. We needed to be able to commute
to our other offices in Dudley and London as well as to be close
to a major airport for European travel. It was also important that
there was an available and trainable workforce, that were unlikely
to have had previous financial services experience, thus enabling
us to create the totally new customer experience we had planned.
We needed large, adaptable premises, fast, as well as the availability
of further room for expansion and contingency premises.
“Because of our original experience, when we decided to expand
our UK business further, it was obvious that we should do it in Derby.
We are delighted to be in Derby and to be part of the future heritage
of this region. A number of our senior managers and executives have
re-located to the area with their families to enjoy the leisure available
and the warmth of Derbyshire people. Derby City Council worked tirelessly
with us to ensure we achieved our aim.”
