Success stories
HSBC
Leicester
Back in December 2001, HSBC strengthened its presence in Leicestershire
by consolidating its business customer service centre in Leicester. HSBC,
one of the world’s largest banking and financial services organisations,
opted to stay in the area rather than relocate elsewhere in the country.
Andy Milner, senior project manager said the bank stayed in Leicester because
of the quality of its people:
“Our business customers rightly expect high levels of service and
we know Leicestershire can deliver that. We have a high quality workforce
in place with excellent training programmes and a flexible labour pool that
means we can continue to staff our operations effectively”
The Leicester operation has three main activities, all for business customers:
credit card processing, supporting electronic banking and the UK helpdesk for
BACS payments. An Internet banking technical helpdesk was also relocated from
London. HSBC were already employing 800 people in it business service centres
and the new facility meant it could increase its staff to 1000.
